Our pre-school toddler and school children’s tennis classes have been specifically designed for the age bands and corresponding developmental level of the groups of children we coach. Our tennis classes work in harmony and enhance the child’s natural development, using fun games and challenging activities to teach basic skills.

Each session we follow the individual themes and cover the specific topics listed below.

Term Course Curriculum

Week 1: Teaching the fundamentals of tennis - court lines, the rules and basic strokes such as forehand and backhand
 
Week 2: Introducing the volley and smash - how and when to use
 
Week 3: Games and drills: working on the four shots learnt during the previous weeks
 
Week 4: Hand, eye and ball coordination drills – warm up’s such as high knees, back flicks, skipping, side to side, cross over’s etc. This will be combined with hitting the four shots learnt to date
 
Week 5: Movement: moving from one shot to another e.g. Hitting a forehand then moving onto a backhand then a volley
 
Week 6: Targets: aiming for set targets using a point reward system
 
Week 7: Groundstrokes and net shots: hitting hundreds of balls working on fluency and consistency
 
Week 8: Continuing groundstrokes and net shots: Hitting hundreds of balls working on fluency and consistency
 
Week 9: Teams: introduction into rallying and working in pairs – throwing, rolling and hitting the ball
Week 10: Team Games: competing, learning how to win and lose in the right manner
 
Week 11: Review day – combining all skills learnt during the term
 
Week 12: Course recap, final review and tournament or match play
 

 

 



























 

 

Holiday Course Curriculum

Monday: Teaching the fundamentals of tennis: Explaining tennis rules and court lines. Practicing basic strokes such as forehand, backhand, volley and smash

Tuesday: Racket warm-ups and coordination games and drills: Working on racquet control and practicing the four shots learnt during the previous session

Wednesday: Moving from one shot to another, combining different strokes and aiming for targets using a point reward system. Working on net shots as well as hitting hundreds of balls to working on fluency and consistency

Thursday: Introduction into rallying and working in pairs. Throwing, rolling and hitting the ball to one another

Friday: Course recap, touching on every topic learnt during the week. Tournament and Match Play
